We have mint and flowers hanging throughout the house. My 8-year old daughter has gotten really into helping with this. Later on we'll enjoy free pumpkins (there's always someone giving them away I tell my kids. We will wait for that free sign) and I always love stacks of old books for decor.
Ohh I love the trick with free pumpkins! I never seem to be able to grow them very well, so we go to the roadside pumpkin stand and it’s so expensive! 🎃
My favorite decor: purple aster stems, native grass seed heads (little bluestem are a favorite), a few goldenrod, a dry mullein seed head or two, orange coneflower, maybe a few oxeye sunflower. With an abundance of Boneset along my shoreline, I might add a few heads of those for a nice pop of white. And I know I shouldn't, but I love the Purple Loosestrife. One long purple stem in the center of yellow and white and those burnished grass heads is so striking.
